Doesn't mean they'll stop it altogether, since they're still turning a profit. Stopping it is basically throwing away money. Nintendo would also never let that happen since pokemon is a system seller. Also the games help create new content for the rest of the franchise to operate, without it it would be much harder. Like having a car without an engine. Main series will never stop, it's not as simple as you think.
