I played all the spinoffs except the second Ranger game, Pokemon's mainline is still stagnant as shit.
I don't even think it needs a complete overhaul like making it an ATB or an ARPG or anything, redoing the presentation and taking risks in the single player campaign is all people really want.
>give the game difficulty settings and cutscene skip
>let the player join the evil team if they want
>let the player set a trainer type as their "class" for various single player bonuses (i.e being the "breeder" class gets you faster eggs and hatching and maxing the class out aids in breeding for shinies or something)
>make the world on the same level of other JRPGs like Tales Of, not even full open world, just expanded further than tiny routes and towns with zero sidequests and maybe 3 houses to enter
>make legendaries optional again instead of making them the basis for the entire plot+required catch
>optional dungeons with good rewards/rare Pokemon
Ect, ect.
The Pokemon IP has literal infinite potential, Gamefreak has the money to make any kind of game we can imagine but they refuse to progress and the games are still stuck 3 generations in the past as a result. I don't understand why """"fans"""" get so offended when you suggest Pokemon can be better than what it currently is, then get mad at you for saying Gamefreak can be trying harder. It's like you don't actually enjoy the Pokemon games, you're just addicted to the brand name.
