>>39514567Overall I'd say Gen V's entries had the strongest designs. Hilbert was similar to Red but with his cooler blue colors he had his own distinct look that was effective enough that all the male protags after outside of the USUM protag tried to replicate in some way. Hilda also did a similar thing by bringing back a Tomboy-ish look that was initially done by Kris in Crystal, but had a whole different design which sets her off as unique, making a tomboy-ish yet still feminine character that still stands out within the female protags. Nate goes different than Hilbert and takes a bit more sporty (if you can call it that). It's probably the weakest of the four, but nevertheless has some good qualities, like the jacket and hat. Rosa is a unique design herself, but instead of going tomboy-ish like Hilda, she goes full feminine, and has that sporty feel like Nate. There's also the Asiatic bun hairstyle which is unique for any of the Pokemon protagonists as well.
