>>39517881I thought it was more clear that Lusamine focused so much on trying to get Mohn back/ open a wormhole/ that she end up forgetting about why she was doing it in the first place. With Nihilego becoming her only drive due to maniac monomania and every one leaving her becoming dead to her.
In the ultra version, URS showed up, told her about the beast as well as Necrozma. Giving her a purpose for her focus and a new drive. Her mental health was implied to have worsen because to her, her kids (her family) left her. But because the Necrozma stuff fueled her messiah complex, her kids mattered all be she wanted to prove them wrong for leaving her.
Taking Nihilego out of Usum outside of the wormhole scene, didn’t really take away the impact of Lillie changing clothes because she had that look before she ran and it was implied that Lusamine became that controlling to her kids. (Even the manga pushed that one... to the point Lillie had ptsd over clothes.)
Lillie got shot down because Lusamine was bitter over her daughter stealing her stuff and running and want to prove her wrong.
That is what the opening of the wormhole on your first Aether visit was suppose to be this time, still a foreshadowing that Lusamine is doing reckless shit that will endanger the region. Little regard to safety, for more selfish purposes than she wanted you to believe. (Open the wormhole and look for something/ someone.)
Lillie was helpless in protecting Nebby from what ever nut job plan her mother had and post crazy, learned that she needs to step up on her own if she is going to be able to protect those she cares about. She needed to step out of her mother’s controlling shadow. That is the meaning of her new look.
Now if you are upset about Lillie and her folks losing focus due to Necrozma and you missing out on seeing her call her mother out on her crap... I won’t judge because that did kind of sucked.(But the thing you walked back to was personally a good trade off.)
