I don't know, I look at that Duraludon guy and I'm instantly reminded of the same reaction I had as a kid when I got a magazine with all the new GSC guys, that feeling of "wow, this guy is kinda weird, but he's a pokemon", I don't really think anything there hasn't belonged or fit properly.
At absolute worse you have those Ultra Beast things, but even then have major usage of shapes and colors that match the aesthetic we've built across 25 years just fine, don't they?
