Somewhere along the line, people seem to have started taking the complaint about graphics for Sword and Shield too seriously, when it was just in response to Masuda using them as justification for cutting Pokemon.

Graphics alone don't and never have made a game good on their own. The graphics are the least important about the issues with Pokemon and Sword and Shield.

Both are JRPGs but one focuses on story, exploring dungeons and fighting evil while the other is focusing on collecting creatures with various fetishes bait like waifus, furries, etc.. while doing the same gyms things over and over in every game.

Heck, you can even catch monsters in DQ games.

Dragon Quest isn't developed by Square Enix. The DQ devs just had an exclusive publishing contract with Enix that carried over to SE.
