what are some pokemon you'll probably never use in a full playthrough?

I mean, just look at this dude. defensive ground type which is done better by a lot of things. Doesn't even learn earthquake naturally until recent gens, when its only niche whatsoever in competitive was Swords Dance and Earthquake.

You can use Sandslash just fine in any game, but especially gen1/FRLG, and it will pull its weight. Stop being a faggot, OP.

I've used most Pokemon already, I'm only missing about 70 and they're mostly legendaries that you can't get until endgame so I'm figuring out a way to use them in my next playthroughs, or shitmons like Unown and Ditto that I will have to form a good team around and pick my game carefully

Contrary Superpower is cool and he gets decent stabs via level up, but there's always something preventing me from really using him in-game. I've trained up three of them in three separate fangames without ever actually getting the chance to use it.

probably because fangames are exclusively garbage. start a new file and give yourself a however-bred-you-want fresh hatched inkay through bank or some shit in a 3ds game and use it from the start. it might overlevel a little bit if you give it max hearts in the petting game, but that just means it'll be disobedient for a short while.

Mediocre stats and low speed, along with a typing that only gives him one immunity and no resists. If you're playing fangames it probably means opposing teams are too aggressive to really get it in safely.
Inkay is pretty decent in the early game, though.

Nah, I actually enjoy the difficulty in fangames. The mainline games are too boring to bother with using specific Pokemon and if I wanted to play PVP I'd just use Showdown.

Dugtrio is decent, it has much better speed but much worse defense, and its movepool sucks shit. Sandslash has its own niche by virtue of learning Swords Dance and Rock Slide.

Nidoking can't learn Dig, so you have to wait till you get Earthquake at Silph. Sandshrew can get Dig right out of the box.

Graveler/Golem and Rhydon can't take Water/Grass moves. Sandslash can if needed. Rhydon is unavailable until fairly late. Both are quite slow, while Sandslash has enough Speed to avoid getting poisoned before a KO most of the time.

Dugtrio has only 80 base attack in earlier gens. All the more likely it'll have to take a hit and die. Also more difficult to switch in.

Marowak: It has better special bulk but is worse in every other way. I'd use Onix over this poor guy, sadly. And I have.

That being said, I like them all. But Sandslash is one of the best for Kanto.
