Did you actually think they enjoyed spending what they did to develop the spin-offs only to end up selling less than half of the worst-selling core Pokémon titles ever sold anon? Only so much cash loss a company will stomach, before culling the unprofitable practices.

As I told everyone would be the case when the Rumble one was announced.

It was obviously the plan to do main series Switch and side series mobileshit.

Now, I figured that'd actually mean they'd calm down with the main series because they'd be making a shitload elsewhere but fuck me I guess.

Game Freak have to split whatever TPC take in 3 ways anon. Making and releasing their own games, they can contract Creatures and pay them out the production budget, meaning the rest of the game profits only have to get split two ways (GF and Nintendo). Game Freak don't care about spin-offs, they were mainly used as a tool to have a pokémon release in the years they didn't have a game for launch (brand visibility, you know). Stands to reason they'd continue to work to their own schedule now they've been killed.
