>>39526650Relict Type.
All those Pokemon that are based on Mesozoic and Paleozoic and Ice Age stuff.
Would include:
The Fossils (duh) which also saves them from that horrible Rock Typing. Tyrantrum family becomes pure Relict
Lapras- Water/Relict
Mammoswine- Ice/Relict
Yanmega- Bug/Relict
Relicanth- Water/Relict
Tangrowth- Grass/Relict
Maaaaybe the Tynamo family would be Elec/Relict
For bad matchups I'm thinking...
Rock, Both to give Rock something to be good at and the logic of getting killed by meteors.
Normal, To give Normal Symmetry with it's one weakness (Fighting) and mutually canceling immunity (Ghost). Makes sense as Modern animals are the ones that beat out the ancient ones to avoid extinction.
For Good matchups I'm thinking...
Water. Both because Water needs a check, and something about Higher Sea Levels in old times makes them better suited for it.
Ghost Maybe? Like they've come back to life so ghosts hold no power over them or something
Psychic? Their brains are to primitive to properly mess with
As for moves I'm think it should have a gimmick. Like how Dark-moves impose all kinds of weird limitations. In relicts case I'd like a bunch of moves based around multi stage attacks (because natural history is a long time). Think like a Solar Beam style move that punishes your opponent if they switch out to a better type matchup during the charge up. Or a Dig/Fly esc. move that gives you the choice to switch out ala U-Turn/Volt switch during the semi-invulnerable phase, meaning you and your opponent have to bluff each other over who will stay or try to switch.
