Is there a season with more wasted potential? I thought new artstyle means new approach but in ended up being the same garbage and even ruined everything that made the original story enjoyable

Sun and Moon is a pathetic low budget attempt to make people forget about X/Y after the universal shitstorm and backlash that the League episode has caused.

Even Japan hated X/Y finale and bombed Ash's voice actress blog with hate messages after she said something about learning from losing.

No wonder why Sun and Moon is currently having extremely low ratings in Japan, they didn't forgive the anime studio yet

Besides how incorrect some of this stuff is, SM just tried following what the games were doing with the Yokai Watch stuff. Didn't really pan out.

While SM was a nice change of pace, it was definitely wasted potential. Trials felt like the biggest afterthought. Battles were most poorly directed. Team Skull might as well be non-exsistent. Characters like Hau and Gladion don't make frequent appearances for whatever reason. Ultra Beast episodes were lackluster as well.

The Animation is very good and we have been getting frequent Sakuga, but the battles leave a lot to be desired.

Cool references and all that. SM has been pretty fucking mediocre

It just stopped pretending to go anywhere. Here's a fact: Ash Ketchum is such a flat character that you can watch his show in any order because it doesn't matter. He's the exact same character in 1999, in 2004, in 2012, in 2019, just with more or less expressiveness depending on the era. The only thing that changes is his party and exchangeable, one dimensional friends. The only time it actually tried to have a character arc was during the original Indigo-Orange run, maybe even until about the first third of Johto.
