A lot of its issues came from the 'haha 10th anniversary let's have a 151 Dex' imo. The cross Gens were part of its strength and what made Platinum better.
I hope Platinum adds Gens 5-8 Mons to get the Dex up to 300 odd because that's probably one of the weakest aspects of the Sinnoh games - variety.
