Gyms 3-5 seem downright cruel compared to 6 and 8.

I'd maybe have just one of Dusclops and Drifblim on Fantina's team, swap Machamp for Machoke, and take a pokemon from Wake.

For Bugsy, his main should have been Ariados. I know Scyther has a Gen 2 evolution, but his gym in the remakes has a dam spider theme.

Really, her original team is fine. Surskit's Water Sport can negate Fire weakness just fine, but I'll do some tuning up because why not. Also why the FUCK does she only ever use Surskit and Vivillon? Even in the anime she only uses those two!

>My reasoning for this change
Surskit is relatively fine, but instead I have it Damp Rock Rain Dance for long-lasting Fire protection as well as benefitting from it with Swift Swim and Bubble. I wasn't sure what could make a good 2nd Pokemon so I went with a different Pokemon depending on the version. Karrablast for X and Shelmet for Y. Finally, Vivillon makes the most out of a highly-accurate Sleep Powder and slightly more accurate Supersonic.

Hoenn has good gym teams but an atrocious E4. I'd probably chuck Glacia for a Grass type member, because it's yet to be done and unlike Ice and Ghost, Hoenn has a good dex for it.

There has never been a gym leader with 6 Pokémon, and only 3 with 5. Four of the six regions with gyms never go beyond 4. I understand wanting more challenge but none of these remakes are realistic or have anything to compare to. If you get to the fourth gym and all you have is your middle Starter, middle bird, and maybe 2 other unevolved Pokémon, how are you supposed to defeat four fully evolved powerful Pokémon without over grinding or spamming Healing items?

That being said, i wonder why don't people give, say, a Mamoswine to Pryce, for example. HGSS changed the Johto dex to include a few Sinnoh mons, it'd be a bit sad not to make use of that. (even though in general, the Johto dex still is completely unbalanced on some types)

I think i read a theory about him having a Rotom as only childhood friend. Makes somewhat sense since he was pretty much an asocial virgin who spent his time with machines, and Rotom is the one mon that goes inside machines.

I did the johto gym leaders because it always frustrated me how most of them didn't use key gen 2 Pokemon on their teams. Sadly not much can be done about the lack of ghost and dragon type Pokemon.

Also 3 Pokemon is the ideal gym leader set. fight me.
