We still have grid movement. If you look in any game, the NPCs move in a straight line, pivot, and then move in a different direction. I'm not saying grid movement is good, I'm saying it made sense in the days of spritework and topdown spritemaps. It looks passable in 2d and looks absolutely fucking disgusting and soulless in 3d.
