You could make it singifcantly less shit just be re-distrubiting points and not giving it more BST.

HP: 65
ATK: 65
DEF: 100
SPA: 20
SPD: 65
SPE: 70

Still not "good", especially for competitive, but for in game/casual plsay this is way more usable

It could make sense if Onix was super slow and didn't have enough impact to hurt as much as Spideridontrememberthenameof's scratching and biting but Onix is actually faster
Dumbest thing is the HP though, a tiny bug should have like 10 hp but somehow it has more than Onix, a fucking giant

Or how they're forced to let you obtain 101 different items because they're tied to alternate forms or evolutions.
GF is really stubborn with the canon on certain aspects, hell they found more logical to introduce parallel universes than just pretend mega stones always existed anywhere.

GF has a style best described as schizophrenic when it comes to changes and retcons.

They're willing to completely change typing for a whole subgroup of Pokemon but won't change code mistakes, but also willingly set a precedence to have to introduce almost-redundant items and standard-template sub-locations everytime they introduce new Baby forms and new Eeveelutions, respectively.

Seriously, why the fuck did they think that was a good idea?
Did they honestly believe that kids would be confused if breeding a Snorlax produced a Munchlax in gen 4 despite it producing a Snorlax in gen 3, so they needed to add a new item so that kids wouldn't pick up an older game and try to breed a Munchlax?
Because it just raises more questions as far as canon is concerned, like how the hell Munchlaxes even exist in the wild.

Doesn't make sense considering Rhydon can breed. I think it's just a glitch that they refused to fix. I remember when people thought the Azurill gender glitch was a reference to animals that change their sex but it was fixed a decade later.

ngl your ideal stat distribution for a 510 bst onix is terrible.

160 SpA Poliwrath Scald vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Onix: 204-240 (49.2 - 57.9%) -- 91.8% chance to 2HKO (both same bst of 510)

and given onix's lack of recovery i highly doubt it is "unkillable".

now lemme try a 510 bst rock snake:
HP: 95
ATK: 70
DEF: 135
SPA: 30 (same as og onix)
SPD: 110 (was 80 but i had 30 left over stats to put in)
SPE: 70

w/ eviolite this would be kinda hard to take down if you didn't bring a water/grass coverage move (which every team has).

also why give onix 65 spa?

Nosepass in Gen 3. Basically suppose to be a stone wall
Cranidos in Gen 4, as it's a glass cannon
The elemental monkeys, being the Counter Boss
Totem Faticate and Gumshoos in Gen 7, being literal boss monsters and having a specific stat spread that makes them feel like a first boss.
