Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be the Pokemon Company that would give Game Freak the ol' Rare Treatment? They're the ones that license out Pokemon to companies like Niantic for Pokemon Go, etc.
Definitely agree with this sentiment though. Just give the IP to some capable devs with passion and vision. Let Gamefreak do its ownthing from now on, they're clearly sick of Pokemon even though the world isn't. I'm sure they're are plenty of devs would DIE to get a chance to work on a Pokemon game. Plenty that are more keen to what could improve the series as well. I'm sure whoever got em would give fans SOMETHING to make them esthatic. Whether it was a more in depth story, further fleshed out mechanics, or just better map design/game flow, ANYONE could be doing the franchise better right now.
