The arrangements are excellent, however the soundfont is grating my ears so much that it made my appreciation for the soundtrack a bit difficult.

The sound font turns everything into a muddy mess. Each channel in rby is really clear mostly due to the higher pitched midi sound font. It doesn’t help that the sound font in frlg was limited to trumpet farts, static white noise for percussion, and thin sounding bells.

Shame really, it’s totally superior to the originals in every way save the soundtrack which is one of the strong points of gen 1.

That. Arrangements are mostly great, samples sometimes let them down. Would be a great target for MIDI restorations, which I'm sure are all over the place.
