basically this installment is like let’s go, just play the main story and that’s it. don’t spend eternity in postgame grinding mons like in other pkmn games

this is basically sun and moon HD and im OK with that, but obviously it’s really shitty that gf is right now lying about pokemon animations being better and the game being “hardcore”

they improved trainer animations, except for walking robotically, but i think pokemon animations are the same cheap ones because gamefreak doesnt even do those. there’s like a bunch of companies they outsource that to which are also being lazy

LGPE has sold about 11M, compared to the 16M new games on a system usually sell. You could make the argument that they weren't a new gen, and SS will hit 16M, but looking at how many people are angry I don't think SS will hit the same numbers as XY or SM. If long time players like me, who have bought every game and third version since red version, are willing to skip the game something is wrong. They've alienated their older base and done nothing to draw new players in.

LPGE sold the same as the other remakes so they did well sales wise. I skipped USUM and LGPE and there is no way I’m skipping SwSh and I have been playing since Gen 1, so you cannot speak for all long time fans.

I'm the same way. I skipped gen 6 and 7, but played LGPE, it turned out to be pretty fun and took me about 20 hours to complete the game and the dex. I'm definitely getting Sword tho.

Everything since the legends reveals has been disappointing to me. The only designs I like are corviknight and wooloo, and not even that much.

I've been playing Fire Emblem Three Houses and I'm really fucking enjoying it way more than I would Sword and Shield. When the ONLY issue is the graphics and you can tell how much effort the devs put into everything else, it kind of makes Pokemon, which has become boring and formulaic, look like garbage.
Pokemon isn't just competing with handheld games on this console, but that's the kind of game they're trying to make

This is a new problem Nintendo has never had to face before and I think it's going to have a tangible impact on sales. There have been a lot of people, myself included, who thought $200 is acceptable to play the new Pokemon game, but there are far less people who will think nearly $400 is worth it.
