Well, Hau is losing to Ash this weekend

Gladion is going up against Kiawe in the semifinals. I like Guzma, but unfortunately the writers are making him beat Ash when hes been set up as the villain, even though hes 100% right about how shitty the League is

The League is mostly 1v1 matches, so it really is. Even the finals won't be a full battle since neither Gladion nor even Ash have full teams.

The problem really is that the league is that terrible for a few reasons and has nothing to do with XY itself, but the entirety of leagues:
>anyone can enter because of no qualifications unlike the other regions with eight badges, four in the Orange Islands
>in the games Kukui wants the best so he has people that completed the island challenge be participants for the first league, the anime has no such thing, not even beating one kahuna so you had Guzma, Lillie, and Mallow being able to enter, the latter two being carried in by others
>the qualifying round is a giant battle royal where the 16 that survive move on to the actual tournament, but the battle royal doesn't require having any wins so people don't actually have to battle, just not be knocked out to which James did
>the tournament rounds themselves are one on one so team planning is useless which really limits strategies
