Overworld wild pokemon and having your whole box with you in your inventory make it really help its playability.

I'd say so personally.

Catching Pokemon is finally an active aspect of the experience as opposed to a being a simple ball selection with the rest of your stats relegated to battle. Quality of throws, berries, ball selection, and prior catches all affect catch rate, and I think carrying over the catch mechanics in some optional way in the future to supplement the traditional system with additional rate boosts would be nice. Your PC is also in your bag, which is a fantastic QoL change.

Shiny hunting is something you can influence intuitively and respects your time far more than other implementations as well. It does have a few odd short-commings, but If the motion controls don't bother you (try the demo), then I think it's a pretty great time.

If you’re not poor that’s a great deal, $60 is overpriced and it’s probably worth $40 or less. I had a lot of fun; in 200 hours I shiny hunted thirty near perfect metamon and cleared all master trainers, so it’s not post game contentless, and if you like being able to use any mon you want candies are kind of broken and can bring out the best in your shitmon.

Not really. You level through battle experience and catching. Catch combos give exp multipliers, and exp share is on for your active party. Try the demo and get a feel for whether the catching system suits you. Control scheme differs between handheld and docked.

Actual cutscenes can be skipped if you enable the option in the menu. There also aren't very many cutscenes all told.

The handholding also wasn't as egregious as people implied it'd be, I found. Just maybe a couple earlier gym requirements raised an eyebrow, but the rest felt pretty par for the course.

He's right. It's okay on the Game Boy but since then it's only been getting worse, aside maybe from HGSS (which still has too many trees). A HD version of Kanto should be completely different, not HD Game Boy layouts with PS2 textures.

There are better remakes with more content called Fire Red and Leaf Green. The came out 15 years ago and you can download them for free. They also don't assume I'm retarded every 2 seconds. I won't recommend playing LGPE unless someone pays you to do it (i.e. streaming)

It's very handholdy but they did a great job modernizing Kanto and the post game is super fun. Shiny hunting is way more fun in this game, and it's much easier to create a competitive team with candies and ease of leveling.

Then you must think Smash is shit because Kirby follows many of the same control and story mechanics. Star Allies especially feels like a Smash game with all of the different characters you can access. Also, Kirby perfected the tonal shift of the story, characters, and environment being lighthearted at the start of the game and becoming increasingly twisted and dark the further you play in. With the majority of the darkest nightmare fuel being locked behind achievements that only hardcore players would even access.

Not at all, I pirated it and I gave up right after Celadon. It's such a soulless and inoffensive experience, it makes me wonder why it was made if they were so afraid to try new things. It ended up ruining Kanto more than improving it, stuff like cycling road moving the bikers away and not requiring a bike at all felt like needless kiddifying.

HGSS > USUM
You will have a miserable time with USUM if you only like gen 1-3, it's very nu pokemon. Gen 5-7 is its own world.
Also, SM has a significantly better story than USUM, but USUM has slightly better gameplay.
