Tbf, if this game was a western game and it was originally called “Sucker Punch”, you would still expect it to be an actual punch even tho yes there is the connotation of being a surprise hit. The real reason it’s not treated as a punch in the games is because it’s just called “Surprise Attack” in Japanese.
