It would have been a game on the Genesis (since that's what they originally developed for). The music would either be trashy or use FM synthesis to its strengths. It may or may not have been clouded by obscurity. another reality would be them making it on the sega CD with clear sound, FMVs, but would have bad loading times.

No, I don't think it would have been. The timing was just right for Pokémon. It releasing that late into the 90s meant it got 3D spin-offs for the N64 and anime just started getting popular in the west.

It may have been a pretty cool game regardless, but it would’ve gone the same way as a lot of good RPGs of the era.

Not to mention, it was developed for hardware that was well into it´s 7th year which meant a lot of people already had the system....and made it sell EVEN more, the fucking GB brand from original to Advance lasted like 15 fucking years.

Also, the T.V. show....the manga, it was on fucking everything and it was ruthless as shit. NOTHING has come close to be as popular ever since, at least not in the west.

It wouldn't.
From the very beggining the game was intended for Game Boy. There's even an interview where Miyamoto says that he received the first game document in 1989.
