It's pretty safe to say that SwSh will NOT outsell Monster Hunter World.

Which basically means that Sword and Shield will sell less then 10 million.... less than any mainline Pokemon game.

afaik Knack was only made because the guy who made the PS4's internal design (Mark Cerny) requested Sony to make 2 games.
Death Stranding would be a better example.

I think Gamfreak's thing comes from TPC demanding yearly releases on top of Masuda/Ohmori being very poor at managing projects.
Sony/MS/Epic at least would let GameFreak take their time to make a Pokémon game and would make their first party studios assist them on everything they need (Just like Kojima Productions took Guerrilla's Decima engine).
Obviously this will never happen.

I don't think it'll sell less than LGPE either, but that game avoided a lot of controversy because a lot of people were willing to forgive it thanks to the promise of a proper game coming later. Meanwhile SS have put their foot in a controversy all of their own, plus that promise is now backfiring as well.
