>>39569615It's pretty barebones. Kanto is mostly plains/grasslands, standard caves, ocean, and basic towns/cities. No variance in scenery or themes. LGPE had the opportunity to build upon it, but they opted out to make it near identical for nostalgia and ease-of-work.
Sure, mid-game is a lot more open to explore, but the game clearly pushes you to go in a certain order even now.
Too many Poison types, Pokemon with similar types, and lack of other types (pre Dark, Steel, and Fairy) too.
