Alain's Mega Charizard gave Siebold's Mega Blastoise and Steven's Mega Metagross a hard time. In the Mega Evolution specials and promotional shorts, we see that Alain fought countless Mega Evolutions with his Mega Charizard X in both Hoenn and Kalos. Alain took down his semifinal opponent with just 2 Pokemon.
Ash's Greninja is nowhere close to that level. It defeated two Mega Evolutions, one of which was relatively inexperienced (Sawyer's Mega Sceptile). And Diantha's Gardevoir held back in a training battle so Greninja doing something to it doesn't count.
