What's your favorite cave? Mines is Sinnoh's Victory Road. What's your least favorite cave? Mines is victory road in gsc and hgss.

God Sinnoh's victory road was so good. One of the few well done dungeons in the series.

Here's an interesting fact. In Gen 1's Rock Tunnel there are 15 trainer battles with 37 pokemon between them. Imagine doing that marathon in a generation where the strongest move on any given pokemon wasn't a 40bp normal type move.

I'm a fan of NES Dragon Quest games, so caves themselves don't bother me. The issue is that in Pokemon, the random encounters do nothing but waste your time. The Pokemon are usually too low to bother killing for exp (or don't give much if you do), it's extremely easy to run from battle, and you almost always one-shot them before they can attack. You also can't repel them unless you're certain there aren't any rare Pokemon in the cave you haven't encountered yet.

It uses different tiles, it's not used anywhere else iirc. Plus the cave is well designed and the music isn't bad at all, granted it's inferior to the Hoenn victory road theme.

Mt. Silver if we count mountains. It looks nice and isn't too annoying to explore for how big it is.
Chargestone Cave is also really good. Nice Pokemon are inside and it's unique.
I really like Glittering Cave as well. Really atmospheric.

Worst 3:
Altering Cave for being literally nothing
Hoenn's Victory Road for being absolutely horrible (complex and HM dependent).
RBY/FRLG Cerulean Cave for guaranteed wild encounters. Fuck that place.

Levels are so high in DP's Victory Road then you have to grind or catch high level Pokemon in order for Repels to work.

Top-tier design. Simple, yet unique. Great atmosphere, too. Hoenn has some brilliant wilderness.
