Gen 3-5 staryu definitely looks worse, but I think the 3D switch was kind to staryu.
Partly because he looks more like a platinum and gold piece of jewelry, but the fact that Staryus are a faceless, mostly inanimate pokemon probably helps avoid the stiff animation downgrade most pokemon got going from gen 5 to 6

I was unironically making a team. Already had Timid Oricorio, Adamant Garbodor, Eviolite Charjabug, and Bold Whiscash. My whiscash had its HA hydration so I made it into a raindance/rest gimmickmon. So i thought I needed a physical attacker. I already had a hypertrained flygon so i can't repeat it in a team.

Odds are 1/600ish.
You're not guaranteed it by 600 either, if you're real unlucky you could go thousands without a hit. You should only count if you're the kind of person that derives satisfaction, not frustration from watching a number increment.
I once got critted with nothing that raises crit odds 4 times in a row. I can't even imagine how bad a no shiny run i'm capable of if i were to count, so i don't count.

I think at this stage, you should look to trade one of your spares for it, but that's just me.
Mind you, I can't talk, yet again I've messed up the fletchling chain pushing this hunt over two weeks, purely as I'm a fucking idiot and can't hold a chain together currently, much less long enough to get one shiny, let alone lots.

There are many ways to fuck up a shiny-chain, if you're particularly spazz-handed enough. We go again. I'm also betting I'll end up with the HA as I want the regular one and every time I sos'ed and didn't get exactly what I'd wanted, I re-hunted a while later, I've no doubt I'll be doing this song-and-dance again.

Also i recommend Breeding a local fennekin with the foreign one. Same species + Different trainer gives you eggs quicker (doesn't count if it's evolved, so FennekinxBaixen are different species).
That way you can also breed a 6 max IVs fennekin and throw a destiny knot into the mix.
It'll be hard if your foreign fennekin is a boy though because then you'll be rolling for those 1:7 girls

Does anyone have a list of how long it takes to soft reset each game? because i feel like ORAS takes forever.
I tried it on an o3ds and a different SD and it doesn't seem to change much either, i'm getting about 27 seconds on a n3ds and 30 seconds on o3ds
