Digimon World DS, DW Dawn, and DW Dusk are actually part of the Digimon Story series ergo they play like Cyber Sleuth. If you speak moon there's a couple more Digimon Story games on the DS, GBA, and Wonderswan iirc that never got localized or translated.
imo Digimon World Next Order is the best Digimon game. You explore a large overworld with only two Digimons and you never know what they're going to evolve into. Digimon can die of old age in Next Order but by your second or third generation they'll practically be immortal. The only downside is that it's really easy to overlevel, so if you want some semblance of a challenge, don't take your mons to the gym any more than they need to.
