The Elite 4 being a choose your own adventure rather than a straight curve neutered the challenge of fighting the champions because it makes it so you're closely in level. Having levels on you is one of the ways Pokemon's retarded AI can keep an advantage over you, which grindfags don't understand.

Either revert it or make it so they scale depending on who's challenged in what order.
