It doesn't matter dude. You're still going to get a dessert area, an icy area and every other biome that makes sense for the distribution of Pokémon Game Freak want to implement. What your country actually looks like when inspiring a Region is secondary to what Game Freak think they can do with it too.

The way it works is that GF chooses countries that they themselves would like to travel to. You’d arguably get more geographical diversity by choosing a place in Africa or South/Southeast Asia, but those aren’t really tourist hotspots.

Movies, aside from being non-canon to the anime they air alongside, also have a habit of basing themselves off real world locations for the shits and giggles (Latis movie was based off a place in Italy, Victini and Reshiram/Zekrom movie was based off places in France). Anime movie locations mean fuck all when it comes to Game Freak's choice of Region.
