SM's prerelease season was good because there was still hope that the games would be good again. Then the games turned out to be the most handholdy, railroaded shit in a small region filled with corridors and no dungeons.
Now with Sword and Shield looking incredibly mediocre compared to most other Switch titles and the whole cull thing hype has taken a serious dive.

This hype period? Even the leaks are halfhearted. During gen 5 or 6 you couldn't go on /vp/ without finding 10 threads speculating the latest leaks. This time no one just gives a single shit.

There was "leaks" during the time after reveal til E3 but they were kind of half-assed (astrobunny was a post from a year prior, no idea why people fell for it) The only good one I remember was the nugget fly

I've been around since gen 1. The only hype season I didn't participate was the one for gen 4 since that was in my teenage years where I was too cool for Pokemon and I agree

Gen 8 is literally the most lukewarm hype season I ever seen. Dexit is also the only negative sentiment about this franchise I ever seen take the community at large and not just autism centers like /vp/
