I like having vastly different things in a line that each have their own appeal and usually if I like one thing in a line I'll grow to like the others while still having a clear favourite I'm passionate about. With "Just gets bigger"s, even if I like them both they end up feeling samey - I don't really care for any of them in particular and I definitely won't enjoy being able to compare and contrast them.
The biggest example for me is the 'ott line. I absolutely adore Oshawott and Samurott for completely different reasons and their differences only make me like both of them even more. Dewott on the other hand is just boring to me, being too similar to Oshawott to stand on its own, and I end up not caring for it in the slightest.
