It definitely seems more along the lines of Marnie being Rose's daughter. It would explain what her "goal" is in winning the League. Rose is sponsoring Bede and Bede seems sketchy as fuck, so most likely Rose wants Bede to be champ for some evil purpose. Marnie could be trying to stop this by winning it herself.
