First off, there is no mystery bait. Pokemon SM did a whole mystery bait around the Ultra Beast, Type Null, and Aether Foundation. Speculation was at its peak with SM.
Second, the starters. SM had arguably the biggest popoff of any Starter reveal. Rowlet and Litten fans had a war fandom between the two. No such thing exist with SW/SH.
Third, Artificia hype. The hype starts to seem less genuine due to Twitter artist are fiending for likes/retweets. They literally have a based model setup just to be the first ones to have their Art up.
Fourth, reused/uninspired gimmicks. We already had regional forms in the form of Alolans. Now we have Galar forms. Not only does this make Alola less unique, it also became a repetitive gimmick.
