Oh wait, Gladion was barely your rival and only showed up like twice.
I'm willing to bet Bede's gonna be just like Gladion- sure, he's a dick, but he's not your rival, he's just a supporting character. Hop is specifically denoted as being your Rival so you're gonna have to listen to the Hau clone and the fake-goth Lillie clone the entire game.

They didn't. He was first written off as a Team skull enforcer with a connection to Aether Foundation through Type: Null.
He was always just an edgy NPC. One that's important to the story, but not important enough OT be your rival
