There's clearly going to be more, just like there's gonna be more Gigantamaxes.
In fact, I bet the majority of the regionals this time won't be Gen 1 mon because they'll be pandered with Gigantamax forms instead.
Alola gave us 18 Regional Forms (10 lines), and we're currently at 4 (2) for Galar. Also, if we consider the Gigantamax forms equivalent to Megas, Kalos started us with 30 Megas and we're only at 3 Gigantamax so far.
This game is likely going to have like 70-80 fully new pokemon and 20 or so regional forms with 20-30 gigantamax forms.
