Black and White 2 had the peak Gameplay
HeartGold & SoulSilver had the peak Aesthetics
X & Y weren't quite as good as the previous two but they still were enjoyable and very decent so i guess things began to fall apart with ORAS

The fad died a few months after Gen II's release.

The game-play began to really stagnate with Gen V's release.

The heart and soul of the series died when James Turner took the reigns as art director.

I expect a major shake-up among staff after Galar or nothing good will come after Galar.

SM. XY while painfully boring at least had good mutiplayer/online community, Ignoring hoennbabies OrAs was alright but didn't live up to the last two remakes. SM was the anti-thesis of the main appeals of pokemon and can basically only be played once. USM could've been DLC and barely anyone cared about Let's go.But selling like 12million units average basically is saying it was okay. You can see it within the fanbase, XY/OrAs had one of the best online communities for the 3ds vs SMs which died in a month or the hype for a Kalos sequel vs ultra's hype

I think OG RSE wasn't the best, but my favorite. The Johto and Hoenn games had the best designs in Pokemon, to me at least. I think it "started to go downhill" with Gen 5. And it barely went down until Gen 6-7.

Gen 3 introduced harmful concepts that hurt the single player experience, like the EV cap and the natures.

Gen 4 were just terrible fucking games with ugly pseudo 3D graphics no one asked for, that made everything feel slow as fuck.

Gen 5 kept going down the wrong path but at least it introduced cool pokemon and character designs to be used in hentai.

Gen 6 is when the series finally shat the bed and became a soulless franchise.

Gen 2 was peak SOUL, although I sorely missed the glitches. Those were half the fun of gen 1.

Gen 3 was a graphic downgrade in both overworld graphics and ESPECIALLY sprites/move animations, but still looked pretty good. Fuck natures, though, they triggered my OCD and made me want to just play Silver instead because that game didn't permanetly cripple my pokemon from the start.

Everything afterwards is barely playable garbage with HORRIBLE engines and even worse graphics/animations. Especially gen 6, although 4 and 5 are pretty shit too. The only salvageable things are the music, the pokemon designs (not all) and the waifus.

You mean artistic downgrade. The graphics were better, but they didn't make you feel half as much as the gen 2 ones.

Gen 6. It was when they had to move to 3d, revealing they really dont know how to dev in anything but 2d, and when they just relied on nostalgiabait over meaningful content. I don't hate gen 6 but there's a very clear drop in quality.
