You can tell they made Obstagoon first and then decided to make it an evo of a form of an existing pokemon, it has no traits of Zigzagoon at all

Scizor has a lot in common with Scyther. The general limb positioning, the head spikes... It all just looks like a Scyther covered in a Metal Coat (pun intended).

I like to think of Dusclops as a pupa stage, like one that isn't Bug type like Pupitar or Shelgon. A Ghost line that has a mummy-like pupa stage is clever, even if it was retrofitted as such.

I think Obstagoon is cute and I love good ol' 2000s edge (like SA2 and SMT Nocturnes) despite what other people say about it.

I agree with this so godamn much. Heres what really happened. They made obstagoon. Then they tried to make a dark galarian zigzagoon line and realized that it looked a lot like obstagoon. Combined both

The KISS reference is decent, but it doens't justify butchering the Zigzagoon line. if anything they should have made it a Ziggy Stardust ref Obstagoon is too human, even more than Incineroar, it genuinely feels like it's something out of e621 instead of a Pokémon.
