At what point does a Pokemon stop being a Pokemon?

These two Pokemon are designed by different artists from different countries with different opinions of what a Pokemon is and should be.

In 10+ years when the entire dev team is changed and is completely different than the original team, what is the determination for what a Pokemon is?

Because at the end of the day right now the only thing holding them all together is because they're created for a Pokemon game. Is that the only standard?
