Blastoise is the only reason I got Pokemon in the first place. I was super excited to raise a Squirtle into a Blastoise. I specifically got the blue version because it was on the cover.

I love Wartortle, Blastoise is cool but...I hate to say this but it ruins the idea that was being built with its past evolutions, I would love Blastoise more if I were a separate Pokémon. I would have liked to see the squirtle concept culminated.

With Greninja I feel that it was something similar, I really like the design, but I feel that it ruined the idea of the other designs, the base concept behind the creature was supposed to be the bubbles.

If you read any Helix Chamber stuff, Blastoise was originally the evolution of a smaller turtle with cannons and Wartortle evolved into a bigger Wartortle.

I guess the consolidated the lines because they didn't want 2 separate turtle lines in a single gen
