I'm not a big /vp/er, my main boards are /mu/, /adv/, /lit/, and /trv/, but I was absolutely obsessive with pokemon when I was a child, moreso than pretty much any kid in my area. A couple years ago I downloaded pokemon black version on a simulator for my laptop to try it out, and it kind of ruined it for me, it was so fucking boring and basic. Since then I'd basically been thinking pokemon is just shallow consumerism.
This movie basically reminded me how much I liked pokemon. How great the pokemon world is.
For one thing, one of my favorite Pokemon is Torterra. The gigantic Torterra forest was awesome and perfect. I also loved the dubstep Loudreds, and the Gengar was really cool.
I mean yeah, the plot was shallow and dumb, and if the movie had been about an actual pokemon trainer going on an adventure, that could've been amazing. But it was really neat seeing them bring the pokemon to life.
