The Elite 4 are all members of the dev team. The rest of the game is mostly true to the original so that part sticks out like a sore thumb and a lot of people hate it. (They're right it's cringe)

Other than that and a couple other bad descisions though it's pretty good. Ignore people like >>39681460 because some people get extra butthurt over CC

The entire E4 is replaced with OC shit that all have shinies and nicknames on their Pokemon.

This hack lacks Silver and Team Rocket (or substitutes, since this is meant to be a sequel), so the Elite Four aren't the only problem. I wasn't fond of how they changed Eusine, but that's the only story.

If you focus on just the gameplay, then it's solid provided that you don't mind the older mechanics. Overall, I prefer Polished Crystal.

The other rom hacks have some cringe story or mechanics that bring them down.
Prism has unnecessary mining and crafting mechanics nobody cares about, on top of overall being confusing to navigate the world since it never tells you where to go and having long dungeons.
Orange and Coral are unfinished.
There's literally nothing to do in Crystal Clear. The game is a grindfest, the E4 are cringe and the scaling in the E4 is fucked up (fourth E4 goes from mid 50s to upper 60s).

Gaia is the best because it feels like a legitimate Pokemon game Gamefreak would actually make.

The difference is that Polished Crystal actually has an excuse.Right now, gen 2 only supports 254 pokemon (255 including the Egg). They didn't remove pokemon because they wanted to, they removed them because they literally can't add any more without going through a whole shitload of hassle.

Compare that to Sword and Shield, where they just cut pokemon because they were lazy. There's nothing actually stopping them from adding everything, they just don't want to.

Crystal Clear is a romhack that removes roadblocks from Crystal, letting you fight gym leaders in any order. There are a lot of new features, like follow pokemon, scaling trainers/gym leaders, fishing while surfing, and things like that, but everything else stays the same (which means no Physical/Special split and no new Pokemon).

Polished Crystal adds cross-gen evos like the other Eeveelutions, cuts Pokemon like Delibird and Spearow, adds and cuts moves (Dazzling Gleam is in, Bone Club is cut), and adds a Nuzlocke mode

Can't tell if this is a joke or not because GFshills are legitimately low IQ, but you need to cut Pokemon in gen 2 hacks to include new ones. Until a few years ago, the same was true of gen 3 hacks as well.

Crystal Clear was pretty good, I didn't know about the retarded self insertions and just felt bored about the unexpected changes, but it wasn't invalidating for an overall ok game. Even finished the dex.

Polished Crystal was also nice, but it's polluted by game breaking bugs.

Prism is cool and I'm sad it was discontinued.
