An animator who's been working on the anime since BW (Takashi Shinohara) said on Twitter that he's sad SM is ending soon. He also said something about the upcoming Sword & Shield anime, along the lines of "If you don't accept SwSh now, it's fine, you can accept it later, everyone has their own pace".

It sounds like the SwSh anime is going to be controversial, just like the games themselves. Either way, Game Freak won't be able to rely on the anime to cover for lackluster games like they did during Gen 6.
