So why did they hide its other ability? Can't just be because it's a new one because it'd only take a few seconds in the trailer to show off what it does. Could there be something more to it?

Most likely has something to do with a new mechanic that hasn't been revealed. Common thing I've seen and I think makes the most sense is a new type of status effect. Could also be why they haven't officially revealed Impidimp yet. Probably trying to save it for a dedicated trailer.

When it’s ability makes it immune to one of its weaknesses, the other ability would have to be worthwhile to even both putting it on Weezing

Maybe a Fairy-type status infliction that cuts the Special Attack in half ala Burn status? That's my best guess, I can't think of any other status infliction that would be "fair". Infatuation is too OP unless GF put a limit on how long it can last.

This is actually a decent explanation. If they didn't want to reveal the ability yet, for any reason, they could have kept Weezing behind the curtain and rolled out some other new Mon and just revealed Weezing when they were ready.
