How would you feel if all of the pokemon models, data, and animations were programmed into Sword and Shield and they just locked access to them for the reason of making people buy each game for a new Pokedex?
The logic behind this move, of course, is that the Sword and shield engine is the base engine for all future switch pokemon games and they're just moving around assets.
