First, the Switch has sold more like a home console than a dedicated handheld, so that'll probably result in less sales than most mainline games. Second, the fact that there's any noticeable negative hype surrounding SwSh means that it'll be at least somewhat reflected in its sales.
Pokemon has basically kept up the exact same level of sales for five generations because kids keep entering and exiting the franchise while a core of dedicated fans have stuck with it pretty much through thick and thin. I see no reason why SwSh will bring in anyone new aside from the usual "next batch of kids", so losing a chunk of the dedicated fanbase will hurt a bit for sure.
>>39691324Actually I'm pretty sure that the mainline games have been sitting at a pretty much consistent 16 million sales since RSE. Like people say there was a "dip" for B/W, but we're talking 15.6 million versus 16.4 million for X/Y. It's actually kind of impressive how steady things have held in that regard for almost two decades.
