I played it too when it came out back in 2013 and just like you I can't remember a thing from it, besides that I enjoyed playing it, ironically
But many things happened in my life since then and I think that could be a reason why I don't really remember it

It was a rushed unfinished piece of shit. Most of the issues do go back to making all those models work on 3DS, which is actually quite an impressive feat given how highly detailed the creatures models were. It mean't the rest of the game ended up suffering as a whole.
It could have been good had it been properly finished, and developed more.
Though ORAS, and ever other game that has came since then is fucking inexcusable.

All of the good things to come of late with zero drawbacks are from X/Y. You may think they're forgettable but you'd find out the hard way they're not if those things were put back to how they used to be.

I began with gen 2 and after all these years, XY are actually the most memorable games for me. It's the only one where I can name all gym leaders/E4/champion, whose music I can remember the most vividly, and whose region stayed with me the most because of how beautiful Kalos is, among other things.
Flawed or not, XY aren't forgettable in the slightest.

I put more than 1,000 hours into Y and all I really remember is hatching eggs and that one battle place with the furisode or whatever they're called girls. But a lot happens in 6 years. We went through an entire other generation in that time. My memory isn't so great to begin with

I spent most of my time in X breeding too. For all the flaws the game had, I can't ever hate on it too much for all the quality of life improvements it brought to breeding.

Because the whole game is forgettable. The game is incredibly safe and takes few risks. The writing is sterile, the locations are barren and uninteresting, the characters are made out of cardboard, the soundtrack is bland and generic, and the gameplay is dull and unexciting due to how hilariously easy it is. There is nothing of significance to remember about X and Y.

Mega evolution was fun when everyone was just figuring it out then we found out pseudos had one, then came the primals... then fug got an improved one version of a Mega. Shit I remember making a shuckle mega evolution but alas.
