iirc it got a brief surge of popularity in vgc 18. For the same reasons >>39700878 mentioned.

imo Nidoqueen > Nidoking competitively, but only ever so slightly because of that extra bulk. Basically if you want a slightly stronger, but at the cost of a slightly slower Nidoking
