Your moustache tips and your book page sizes are very inconsistent.flip your work and compare halves often while you're sketching! Decent attempt stylistically, a little odd and bland design wise. You forgot to add a shadow under the moustache, and it doesn't look like it's holding the wand at all. Might have been better clasped in the foot. The moustache also clashes with the existing feathers, would suggest making the leg feathers round or curled too. The book is pretty weird man, not sure what to suggest there except just not having it and focusing on the wand.

Why does this picture trigger /vp/ so much? Well adjusted, reasonable individuals can see that this is a typical 8 gen mediocre lazy design, so no point of getting angry at it. On the other hand, transexual Masuda apologists and other sexual deviants probably think this "pokemon" is better than the whole first generation, so they shouldn't be mad either.

It's more like the artstyle changes every gen, and in more recent gens the jump is much bigger. Sugimori is one person, Turner is another. They both design pokemon but their styles are cleary different.

There's plenty to hate on for gen 8, and in never ever gonna buy the games, but the pokemon designs aren't one if them (so far)
Im sure they'll grow on us just like they do every generation

I never said I hated them, I said they don't look like Pokemon. And no, there's still several designs across all gens that never grew on me, that's a really lame way to think. The new designs definitely are a reason to dislike the games when they look so atrocious and so un-Pokemon like so far.

Is that so? If I have anything to praise about Gen VII is that most pokemon designs, albeit more toyetic, stand quite well when put besides the ones in the first 3 generations. Lurantis, Stufful and Bewear seem out of gold and silver and Solgaleo and Lunala feel like the missing step to complexity between Groudon and Kyogre and Dialga and Palkia.

I'm talking of an overall feeling, it's something done deliberately by Sugimori since he mentioned wanting to go back to simpler designs before sun and moon were even announced that's why alolan formes don't feel out of place, they could have gone the gen 5 route and turn them all into something "overdesigned" but the fact is that they didn't.
