Going back to Gen I mechanics every now and then is fun. Especially when utilizing the broken things like Amnesia, Wrap, Hyper Beam, Speed-based criticals, etc.
DVs only being from 0-15, no Natures, and having Stat Exp instead of EVs makes the game a lot more carefree.
More Pokemon are usable, too. I've even had major success with Beedrill considering it OHKOs most Poison and Psychic types with a super-effective Swords Dance-boosted Twineedle.
