I expected something like a regular mainline game with PBR style battles at the minimum, and i got the same battle format as the 3DS with less options (Pokémon) to play with instead, i also have many legit shiny, event and Ribbon Mons that have been with me since gen 3 that very likely won't be playable in the new games.
Also i really feel the culling is more like a plot to turn every new game/region into a glorified lootbox (by using the Pokémon available on them as a feature instead of letting us play with all of them like they did during the last 15+ years) and less of an actual development issue, and doing so really takes away the only thing that made Pokémon different from the other franchises
